A tragic accident claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy Friday night after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 138 near des Prés Avenue, southwest of Quebec City.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. The teenager had been walking alongside the roadway when the driver of a car allegedly veered out of his lane into oncoming traffic, fatally striking the young pedestrian. Despite the swift response from emergency services, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities report that the driver involved was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Following his assessment, he was arrested and could face charges including dangerous driving and driving while impaired. After receiving medical care, he was released under a promise to appear in court at a later date.
